Description

The 1997 grape harvest is considered one of the rare extraordinary vintages of Vapolicella in the last century. The winter was particularly cold and dry. There was a sharp rise in temperature in March (with peaks of 20A°-22A° C), consequently causing the plants to resume growth early. It did not rain in August and September with temperatures well above seasonal averages, leading to a harvest that took place more than a week ahead of schedule. The grapes had excellent sugar levels and optimal concentration and colour. Low humidity levels, little mist and ideal day-night temperature differences in the winter months ensured excellent appassimento that continued through to 11th February: grapes in excellent health with exceptional sugar content.
